Tacky or Tasteful - KP Collection

Every year I promise myself that I'm going to get out and about more often and make it to some of the big name horse shows like Hickstead, Badminton, HOYS and of course Olympia! Yet again I missed out on Olympia and judging by the pictures on their website I really did miss out on an amazing and entertaining show :( There is always next year I guess...

One of the best things about big shows like Olympia is the huge range of products available in the shops. I love having a good root around and seeing what bargains I can find ... although I am known for buying things I don't need or want purely because its good value :( I live by the motto "if it's in your size and on sale then God wants you to have it"! This also applies to any horses, dogs or other animals you may have! :)

One of the stands at olympia this year was KP Equestrian, which I'm sure most of you are aware is Katie Price's (Jordan) Equestrian Range. Now I'm all for a little bit of pink and bling on horses and ponies but I'm really not a fan of her equestrian range at all! It just screams tacky, cheap and gawdy although this certainly isn't reflected in the price.

Now don't get me wrong I used to be a HUGE fan of hers (and even trekked into Dublin to meet her!) so I'm not not being biast at all. She is no doubt a fantastic business woman and I think its great that she has got the equestrian world in the headlines again. Hopefully it will encourage more people to take up and respect the sport ... but I just wish she had done it in a more classy and somewhat traditional manner.

Her products seem to be the same almost every season with no different or exciting new products added to the current range. It's nearly always pink or gold with the occasional blue thrown in for good measure. I haven't been up close and personal with any of the products yet so I can't comment on quality or value for money but I would be particularly interested in getting my hands on some of her tack range and testing it out. I have a sneaky feeling it won't be good strong English leather - but I could be wrong!

One of the products she is launching are her made to measure long riding boots made from Italian leather. Trained staff will measure your foot size and calf length and circumference to ensure you get a fitted and comfortable boot. The whole process takes 4 - 6 weeks and will leave you £500 (~€600) out of pocket. They come in a range of colours including black, red, gold silver and pink. Personally I think I'll stick to my much cheaper and fantastic quality Ariat Boots!

But I havn't lost hope in her just yet - there is one t-shirt in her range that I do absolutely love and would be very tempted to get. It is pink (duh!!) and has "Horses are like chocolates, one's just not enough" emblazoned across the front of it. Couldn't agree with you more there Katie!

So what do you think?
Is the KP Equestrian range Tacky or Tasteful?

  1. very tacky... although I must say I did buy a winter rug only because it was down to £10.99 from Derby House - I was impresssed as the rug was well made...It was colbolt blue, shocking pink was available too, they had the great big horrible emblems on each side, my mare couldn't wait to roll in the mud to cover them up. When she died it was this rug that we covered her with overnight :0(...... Gotta have that T-short though. The horse is a magnificent beast not the rider posing on board..
