Dressage ... Anywhere?

As some of you may know I'm currently on the hunt for a jeep so I can finally learn how to pull the horsebox and not have to rely on my poor, old dad to bring me places. I come from a completely non-horsey family so he really just doesn't understand why getting up at 6am on a Saturday to go trotting around an arena for ten minutes is the highlight of my week! I do feel a bit guilty about it so I figured it's about time I got myself mobile!

I'm sure there are some of you who were / are in a similar position to me and alot of your competing and travel arrangements depend on others, the hours they work and if they fancy standing around in muck and rain while you have the time of your life ... even if it's only for a few minutes.

In the meantime I started looking into alternatives such as getting a trainer to our yard, videoing myself and sharing rides with someone nearby. I was really surprised when I came across Dressage Anywhere - what a clever, clever concept!

No more needing to travel or wait for local dressage competitions to crop up. With Dressage Anywhere you can compete in your very own paddock or arena - and best of all, be judged by a proper British Dressage or FEI judge (so you REALLY know how you are doing!)

To take part is easy! All you need to do is register for free, enter a test (you can choose any level!) and upload your video before the entries close. The entry fee's are between £10 - £12 (~ €13 - €15) so pretty much the average entry fee (minus the diesel costs!) and if you mess up, simply delete and start over! It really is your best test that counts! You will then be judged and you will be able to download your tests with comments shortly after.

It just seems like a no brainer for those who cannot travel or don't own the correct dressage attire but still want to compete or see how they are progressing. And you get to compete with riders from all over the world ... really makes it sound quite fancy and posh!

So I'm thinking of giving it a go myself soon and of course I'll be posting the results up - even if they are  horrendous!

Have any of you ever tried Dressage Anywhere before? What did you make of it?
