Ones to Watch: Equestrian YouTube Videos

There was always that horse mad kid in school, and I was that kid. All I did was talk, write and play horses. Fast forward a few(!) years and not much has changed. I spend all my free time in the yard and when I'm not there, I'm on equestrian forums, reading articles or other blogs. I am obsessed!

I'm a regular on YouTube too, haven't quite ventured into the world of vlogging (video blogging), but I do enjoy watching other peoples videos. There is so much to choose from, from celebrities giving riding advice to vloggers reviewing products. Below are just a few of my favourites that I'd recommend watching :)

Your Riding Success
This is owned by Natasha Althoff, an Australian grand prix dressage rider. She breaks down lessons into really simple and easy to understand exercises. She does really good motivational videos to keep you focused. I'd recommend her if you are looking for ways to improve your dressage and riding.

The Budget Equestrian
The Budget Equestrian is run by an American lady called Lisa who does loads of DIY equestrian videos and has money saving tips. She has instructions for making your own saddle stand, homemade jumps and even how to make a horse head Christmas wreath. Its the perfect page for when you are feeling inspired to do some DIY.

Evention TV
I can't do this list and leave out Evention TV! Jimmy and Dom cover any and everything horse related. I'm a big fan of their schooling exercises as they're explained and easily set up at home. They cover the basics like changing trailer tyres and tieing stocks and also more advanced topics such as engaging the hind end and gymnastic jumping exercises. There is literally something for every level of rider!

Smart Pak TV
This a a big American channel (over 1,000 videos!) probably most well known for their "If Horses were People","What Riders Say" and "Stuff No Riders Says". They do more serious 'how-to' and product review videos, but I love their fun and lighthearted stuff!

CRK Training
Callie King is the founder of CRK Training. She covers topics from horse behaviour, horse care , training to goal setting, rider exercises and the role of positive reinforcements when schooling a horse. She posts every week and also has a blog.

HorseAndRiderMag
This is even better than the magazine! This has some training tips from top riders (such as Pippa Funnel, Harry Meade and Lucinda Green) with easy to follow exercises at home. I've tried some of their pole work videos and it really helps having seen them do it beforehand. They also have showing videos, which cover horse and rider turnout as well as riding the perfect showpiece.

These are just a few of the channels I look at, there's lots more good ones out there. Are there any good channels or vloggers I'm missing out on?
