AIRC Festival 2012 - Only Days to Go!

One of my highlights of the year - I never quite made it to competing at the RDS so this was the next best thing for me!

I found my old checklist of things to bring on my laptop recently and thought I'd stick it up here. It should have everything covered (I camp for the weekend so if you're staying in a hotel it will be a tad different!) but if I've forgotten anything please feel free to comment in the comment section below.

Best of luck to everyone competing - I'm a tad jealous I won't be there myself!

Rider
  • Hats / helmet
  • Hair nets
  • Shirts (Stock and normal)
  • Stock & stock pin / Tie
  • Tweed Jacket
  • Black Jacket
  • Gloves
  • 2 pairs of cream jodhpurs (more if you have them!)
  • Spare jodhpurs (for riding around after competing)
  • Boots (Small boots and Gaitors) *I prefer these to long boots - just a personal preference*
  • Crop / Whip / Cane
  • Spurs *I don't use them but handy to have on the list*
  • AIRC Membership Card!

Camping
  • Change of clothes - the more the better, the weather is really unpredictable! You'll either be burnt or drowned!
  • Rain coat / Warm coat
  • Overalls *I wear these over my cream jods until I'm heading to my class...I'm a dirt magnet*
  • Tent
  • Camping Bag, Pillows, Duvets (ear plugs??)
  • Torch
  • Combination lock (for tent door)
  • Toiletires - toilet paper, baby wipes, deodorant, tooth brush / paste, dry shampoo, towel, hairbrush, bobbins.
  • Phone
  • Camera
  • First aid kit (should be ok for both horse and rider)
  • Fold up chair
  • Few drinks :)
  • Food - although supervalu about 50m away :)
  • Spare Dressage Tests and Timetable

Horse
  • Horse Passport
  • Headcollar and Leadrope
  • Saddle
  • Stirrups and stirrup leathers (bring a spare set of leathers!)
  • Girth x2
  • Bridle x2 (sliphead for rugby pelham)
  • Bits - french link snaffle, rugby pelham *this was for my horse*
  • Reins x2
  • Numnah / Saddlecloth
  • Breastplate
  • Boots
  • Studs *I don't use these but others do*
  • Grooming kit
  • Rugs

Stable
  • Fork and Wheel barrow *organise with your club so you all don't have to bring one, it should be ok to share*
  • Feed
  • Hay & Haynets
  • Buckets x3

I think that just about covers everything although I'm sure I've left somethings out. Hope it helps anyway. And don't forget to let me know how you all get on. I'll be especially interested in the Irish Draught and Heavy Weight hunter classes :)
Enjoy!

  1. Very useful, pity I didn't see this before the festival, but I can always refer to it next year :)
